The Human Edge in an AI Year
AI Will Give You Time. What You Do With It Will Define You.
Every leader I talk to is bracing for an AI-accelerated year. Many hope technology will finally relieve the administrative weight that slows teams down. It will. But here’s the decision that separates winners from everyone else: How will you invest the hours you get back?
Three high-return choices:
- Clarity of purpose. People do their best work when they know what matters and why it matters now. Use regained time to make the purpose of the work obvious at every level—what we’re building, who it serves, and how we’ll know we’re succeeding.
- Decision quality. Speed without judgment creates rework. Create simple decision rules, pre-mortems, and “stop lists” that remove drag. Protect one hour a week for forward decisions only—no status, no slides, just choices.
- Connection that compounds. AI won’t build trust for you. Leaders still have to listen, coach, and knit the culture. Reinforce the honest stories that activate belief and the behaviors you want repeated.
If AI gives you ten extra hours a week, where will you direct them: more tasks or better thinking? How will you turn time saved into speed gained?
If you want to explore this shift with your team—or you want a set of prompts to run this discussion in your next meeting—reach out. I’m happy to help you turn the “AI dividend” into real advantage.
